Robert Carlyle, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom Join The Gentlemen for Season 3

Netflix's "The Gentlemen" has added Robert Carlyle, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom to its cast as production on Season 3 gets underway in the U.K. and Morocco, Variety reported on Oct. 23.

The Casting News

Variety reported that the new cast also includes Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and Bugzy Malone. They join series leads Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, who play Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass.

Returning cast members listed by Variety include Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Benjamin Clementine and Maya Jama. The season will run eight episodes of 60 minutes each. In the logline quoted by Variety, Eddie and Susie set out to build a casino in the Middle East.

Why It Got Coverage

The casting reunites Wood and Bloom, who worked together for years on the "Lord of the Rings" films. Variety reported that it is the first time Carlyle, Wood and Bloom have worked with Guy Ritchie, who created the series. Fletcher previously appeared in Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels."

Season 2 launched in September, and Variety first confirmed the Season 3 renewal in August. Ritchie and Matthew Read are the writers, and Ritchie and Evan Creevy are directing.

What Is Confirmed and What Is Not

Confirmed: the new cast members, the eight episode order and the start of production in the U.K. and Morocco, according to Variety.

Not confirmed: Variety noted that Daniel Ings, who played Freddy in the first two seasons, and Giancarlo Esposito were not listed among the returning cast. Neither Netflix nor the producers had said whether either actor will appear. Variety also reported that earlier rumors about Meghan Markle joining the cast did not pan out. No premiere date had been announced.
