THR: Joe Keery Makes His Broadway Debut in Other Desert Cities

A first night with a heavy cast

Joe Keery is making his Broadway debut in Other Desert Cities, The Hollywood Reporter reported in an interview published Saturday. The Jon Robin Baitz revival, directed by John Benjamin Hickey, opens Oct. 18 at the Hudson Theatre and is scheduled to run through Jan. 17.

Why editors picked it up

The company includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Allison Janney, Ed Harris and Lily Rabe. Keery told the outlet he went almost straight from the U.K. leg of his own tour as the musician Djo into rehearsals. He joins a line of Stranger Things alumni now working on New York stages.

The factual core

The confirmed facts are the play, the theatre and the dates. Reviews come after opening night, and Keery said he has no set formula for how he will split his time between acting and music.
