Marvel Television's VisionQuest is here. According to The Walt Disney Company and Disney+, the series premieres Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT on Disney+, with the first two episodes available right away. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, and James Spader reprises Ultron for the first time on screen since Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.

The show is the third and final chapter of a trilogy that began with the Emmy winning WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024. Disney+ describes it as Vision's turn to deal with unfinished business after Westview, and showrunner Terry Matalas has framed the series around identity, fatherhood and the uneasy company of the AIs living in Vision's programming.

What the Story Is About

Disney+ says Vision has been rebooted and has escaped those who sought to weaponize him. He has been hiding out, searching for new meaning by consulting the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S. and Ultron. That quiet life ends when a bounty on his head puts him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious boy who may be Vision's son reincarnated.

The Walt Disney Company reported that Bettany's Vision is working at a pub in Edinburgh and trying to keep a low profile while he sorts through memories that do not quite feel like his own. Ultron, Spader's character, literally lives in his head. Matalas told Disney that he wanted the final confrontation between Vision and Ultron in Age of Ultron to keep going, and that idea became the series.

Cast and Creative Team

Bettany stars and executive produces. Spader returns as Ultron. Ruaridh Mollica plays Thomas Shepherd. Todd Stashwick appears as Paladin, a bounty hunter hired to track Vision. The AI personas include Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E. and Jonathan Sayer as U.

Disney+ and Deadline also list T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame and Faran Tahir among the ensemble. Tahir reprises Raza from Iron Man. Jac Schaeffer, who created WandaVision and Agatha All Along, is among the executive producers. Matalas created the show for television and serves as showrunner, directing alongside Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro and Vincenzo Natali.

How Episodes Arrive on Disney+

Disney+ says the eight episode season opens with episodes 1 and 2 on October 13, then continues with double episode drops on October 21 and October 28, followed by single episodes on November 4 and the finale on November 11. Deadline reported episode titles that include "No Strings," "Theseus," "Reboot," "Malware," "Firewall," "Deadlock," "Immolation" and "Forever." Viewers should confirm the exact drop times in their own time zone on Disney+.

Fathers, Sons and a Crowded Mind

The Walt Disney Company reported that Paladin abducts Thomas to bait Vision, forcing the synthezoid to confront a bond that should be impossible. Bettany said Vision is told he has a human son and that the idea must be hard to believe, yet the boy is there. The actor drew on his own experience of fatherhood to play that connection.

Inside Vision's MindSpace, the AIs are not just exposition. Hampshire described E.D.I.T.H. as craving lived experience, pushing Vision to try things rather than only know them. Spader said Ultron is older and more mature than the version fans met in 2015, shaped by years of consuming human culture while trapped. That father and son tension between Ultron and Vision is the emotional engine Matalas wanted from the start.

Why It Matters for Marvel Fans

VisionQuest closes a story that has followed Wanda Maximoff and Vision from suburban fantasy into grief, magic and family legacy. Keeping Spader's Ultron inside Vision's mind turns a classic Marvel rivalry into something more intimate: a debate about who Vision is and who he might become. Bettany told Disney he wanted a mashup of Pinocchio and Frankenstein themes, fathers and sons, and the damage that can live in corrupted files.

For viewers who have followed the MCU on Disney+, the premiere also offers a clean entry point. You do not need every film in order, but refreshing WandaVision and Agatha All Along will make Thomas Shepherd's mystery land harder. Disney+ has positioned the show as the trilogy's conclusion, which raises the stakes for how Vision's search for self ends.

Hollywood Magazine will keep following the series as new episodes arrive and as Marvel shares more about how the season lands with audiences. For now, the premiere is live on Disney+, and the final chapter of this trilogy is underway.
