Jessica Lange Criticizes FX as Cheap Over American Horror Story Cast Transport at PaleyFest

Jessica Lange used a PaleyFest appearance to revisit an old production gripe with FX, saying the network was too cheap to provide car service for the cast during the New Orleans shoot of American Horror Story Season 3. Page Six reported the comments on October 12, 2026, drawing from a fan captured video that spread quickly online.

Lange, 77, made the remarks while reflecting with co-stars including Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd and Gabourey Sidibe. According to Page Six, she recalled late night drives after wrap and framed the missing transport as a lasting bone of contention.

What Lange Said About the Coven Shoot

Lange played Fiona Goode in the 2013 Coven season. She told the PaleyFest audience that cast members had to drive themselves. Page Six quoted her remembering returns home around 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning, parking on a French Quarter street and finding their way from there.

She blamed the lack of drivers on the network being too cheap, then offered a sarcastic thank you to FX that drew laughs. Page Six reported that Paulson did not add her own comments on the transport issue, though she clapped and laughed as Lange spoke.

Lange also softened the memory in another part of the conversation. She said she ultimately had a good time because New Orleans is a good place to shoot. That balance matters. The critique landed as a pointed production story, not a claim that the whole experience was miserable.

How the Moment Spread

A fan video of the remarks circulated after the panel, and Page Six noted social media users reacting to the idea of major cast members without drivers on a large series. The outlet also said representatives for FX did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Stories like this travel because they pull the curtain back on everyday production logistics. Audiences usually see polished episodes. They rarely hear about who drives whom home after a long night on set. Lange’s blunt phrasing made the detail hard to ignore.

Her Return for Season 13 and What She Wanted

Lange also discussed returning for American Horror Story Season 13 after about eight years away. Page Six, citing The Hollywood Reporter, reported that she said she might consider coming back if she could do all four characters she had originated and work again with the rest of the actors she viewed as a repertory company.

Ryan Murphy had previously told Vogue that a musical number was part of her conditions for returning, according to Page Six. Lange has appeared across multiple seasons of the anthology, including Murder House, Asylum, Freak Show, Apocalypse and the newer greatest hits style season that premiered in September.

At the same panel, she suggested she does not see a long future of repeated returns. Page Six reported her saying the recent work was great fun, while also saying she does not see continuing to bring the same older characters back again and again.

Why the Transport Story Resonates

Entertainment reporting often focuses on premieres, ratings and awards. A cast transport complaint sits in a different lane. It is about how a production treats its people when cameras are off.

Lange’s comments, as reported by Page Six, give a concrete picture of late wraps in New Orleans and a cast handling their own rides. Whether fans see that as a funny war story or a serious labor detail, it adds texture to how Coven is remembered more than a decade later.

For Hollywood Magazine readers, the takeaway is straightforward. A major performer used a public festival stage to critique a basic production support she felt was missing, and a major gossip outlet put the remarks on the record the same week. The episode footage remains the show’s public face. The French Quarter parking story is now part of the oral history around it.
