Richard Gadd, Bill Camp and Ray McKinnon Join Michael Keaton's Western Rode to Ruin
Three names for one Western
Richard Gadd, Bill Camp and Ray McKinnon have joined Rode to Ruin, the Western thriller Michael Keaton is directing and starring in, Variety reported. Keaton leads a cast that already includes Morgan Freeman and Laura Linney.
Gadd will play Clive McKinney, the leader of an outlaw gang that roams the frontier chasing a rumored fortune and revenge on the man he blames for destroying his family. The roles for Camp and McKinnon were not disclosed. Chris Candy, Travis Hammer, Thom Rivera and Derek Hinkey are also joining the film.
Why the casting desk noticed
The story follows a retired U.S. Marshal who has never let his wife's murder go cold. His long hunt eventually leads him to an old outlaw whose fading memory may hold the key to the case. Production is underway in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from a screenplay by R. Dean McCreary.
Angel Studios holds worldwide rights and plans a theatrical release in 2027. Producer Lori McCreary called the newcomers "the kind of actors who make every scene better simply by being in it."
What is set and what is not
The confirmed core is the cast, the setting, the distributor and a 2027 window. A release date, a trailer and details on most of the characters have not been announced. Anything beyond that remains to be seen until the studio says so.
