Deadline: Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's Mummy Sequel Gets the Title Book of the Dead

A title, finally

Universal Pictures said Thursday that its next Mummy film, which returns Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz as Rick and Evie, is called The Mummy: Book of the Dead, Deadline reported. The release date stays October 15, 2027.

Why the reunion gets attention

Radio Silence's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing from a script by David Coggeshall. John Hannah, Kevin J. O'Connor and Oded Fehr also return from the 1999 original, per Deadline. Weisz sat out the 2008 third film.

What is still under wraps

The plot has not been released. Beyond the title, the cast and the date, everything else about Book of the Dead stays guesswork until Universal shares more.
