Tessa Blanchard Signs With MLW, Eyes the Women's World Title
Tessa Blanchard is moving to Major League Wrestling. The former TNA champion said so on TMZ's Inside the Ring podcast, calling the jump a new chapter she is eager to start.
She is scheduled to debut September 12 at Fightland in Charleston, South Carolina, the same city where her father, WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard, once wrestled. She still lives in Mexico City and will keep working for CMLL under a partnership while adding MLW dates.
What she says she wants
Blanchard told TMZ she wants the MLW Women's World Championship to be the top women's title in wrestling, not one title among many. She named current champion Shotzi Blackheart as the person in her sights. She argued the division has matches and depth but has lacked a franchise name to build around.
That is standard wrestling promo language. It also matches her record. She is a former TNA Knockouts Champion and the first woman to win that promotion's men's world title. Whether a new company uses that history is a booking question. She is offering herself as the centerpiece either way.
Why MLW is the landing spot
MLW airs Fusion on YouTube and has other distribution windows, including New Japan World. Blanchard stressed that fans will be able to watch what happens next without a paywall. For a wrestler who has been the subject of landing-spot rumors, a promotion that puts weekly TV on free platforms is a visibility play.
She also said she studies other rooms: AEW, New Japan, Stardom, RevPro. The point was professional, not sentimental. Independent and mid-size U.S. promotions live on cross-promotion and clip culture. A third-generation wrestler with a Mexico base can travel that circuit if the TV is easy to find.
What to watch on September 12
Debut matches are often short statements rather than title changes. The useful questions are who she faces, how the announce team frames her, and whether the women's title picture is mentioned on camera. Charleston gives the show a family-history hook without needing a long documentary package.
This recap is about the contract news and her stated goal. It is not a prediction of who holds gold in October.
