Regal and Cinemark Pass on Netflix's Cliff Booth for Their Imax Screens

Screens

Regal and Cinemark have declined to play Netflix's The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the David Fincher film starring Brad Pitt, on their Imax screens, Variety reported on Friday, citing sources and a Regal statement.

AMC will still give it a two week Imax run starting Nov. 25, ahead of its Dec. 23 streaming date. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping opens Nov. 20 and was always going to want those same screens.

Regal pointed to shortened theatrical windows, which is the polite industry way of saying a month on the big screen is not much of a commitment. Netflix has not commented publicly, so the dispute so far is one side's statement and some unnamed sources.
