States Clear Path for Paramount-Warner Deal After Legal Settlements

Twelve states and a group of Hollywood writers have settled lawsuits challenging Paramount’s planned acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, according to Associated Press reporting from Chicago.

The settlements remove a significant legal obstacle to an $81 billion combination that would reshape studio ownership, streaming catalogs and theatrical release strategies.

Other antitrust reviews may still apply. Filmmakers including Mark Ruffalo have publicly urged California officials not to concede remaining objections.
