Hurricane Polo Reaches Category 5 in the Eastern Pacific

The National Hurricane Center reported that Hurricane Polo strengthened into a Category 5 storm in the eastern Pacific.

Category 5 status means sustained winds of at least 157 miles per hour. Coastal communities and shipping lanes downrange were advised to monitor official cone forecasts rather than social-media tracks.
